Prof. Dr. Gerd Antes

"Evidence vs. Artificial Intelligence and Big Data – competitors or partners?"

Gerd Antes is a mathematician with a honorary professorship at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg i.Br., Germany, retired from the university position since 2018. He spent his career almost entirely in life sciences, with a strong focus on developing and applying rigid methodology for clinical trials and other types of studies. More than two decades of pioneering work in the Cochrane Collaboration and the German Network for Evidence-base Medicine led to substantial contributions to systematic reviews and meta-analysis.
Recent activities focus on methodological aspects of digitization, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Personalized Medicine and the cultural clash between evidence and the new, technology-driven developments.
